CariFree

Why do I always have a cavity?

This is a question that dentists hear daily. There are many contributing factors (poor oral hygiene, high sugar diet, dry mouth…) that we all know about that lead to cavities, but the true answer to the question is actually something that may surprise you. A cavity is the result of a bacteria infection in your mouth called dental caries.

We have many different kinds of bacteria in our mouth, but it is the proliferation of acid producing bacteria that causes the decay in our teeth. The good news is that now we have a way of measuring the amount of these acid producing bacteria and a simple rinse system to eliminate just the bad bacteria. Just imagine – you rinse twice a day for a month and eliminate the cavity-causing bacteria. You are then on the road to being practically cavity-free forever. The system is called CariFree, and we are excited to be able to offer it to you.

Our goal for our patients is to never have to repair a decayed tooth, and if we have to, we would like our restorations to last a lifetime. The CariFree system is an important tool for making that goal come true. As a patient on the CariFree system, you will save a great deal of money on future dental work and the existing dental work you currently have will last much longer.
